The Salem-St. Louis Chamber Orchestra will present a concerto from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons in each concert this season beginning with Autumn on October 8th.   Next, the chorale begins their portion of the program, inducing works such as “Northern Lights,” a work by Norwegian composer, Ola Gjeilo.  Continuing the theme of night time solitude is a setting of poems by Sara Teasdale’s Stars (set by Latvian composer, Eriks Esenvalds) and James Agee’s Sure On This Shining Night in the well-known setting by Samuel Barber.  We are also performing...

Gloria in Excelsis

Salem’s beautiful sanctuary will be adorned in holiday finery as we present Vivaldi’s “Winter” and Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on Greensleeves,” among other orchestral selections. Bring We Garlands

Love will be in bloom at our season finale!  Music for this concert includes Gerald Finzi’s beautiful “Romance,” Vivaldi’s “Summer” from The Four Seasons, and Eric Whitacre’s hauntingly beautiful “Five Hebrew Love Songs,” which is set to poetry by his wife, Hila Pitmann.  Also on the program are songs by James Mulholland and Gerald Finzi’s charming song cycle “Let Us Garlands Bring,” which will feature the chorale’s own baritone soloist, Christopher Stanfill, and will be accompanied by the Salem-St. Louis Chamber Orchestra.
