Why our concerts were all free last year and again this year?

For the second straight season, all of our concerts are free, thanks to a generous donation from our Executive Director, Marsha Armentrout. The following letter from Marsha gives us insight into why:

The American Chamber Chorale’s seventeenth season continues to bring varied concerts to the St. Louis community.  Artistic Director Stephen Morton has programmed music written by important composers of the past as well as today’s significant composers.  We look forward to sharing all of our concerts with the Salem Chamber Orchestra.  This talented orchestra of professional musicians enhances our concerts by playing significant orchestral compositions as well as joining forces with the Chorale in works for chorus and orchestra.

In celebration of the Chorale’s seventeenth season, and in anticipation of sharing our inspiring  concerts with our patrons, it is my opportunity to underwrite the cost of all tickets for this season.  This gift is given, in part, to fulfill the Chorale’s vision that people of all backgrounds should have the opportunity to enjoy exceptional and rarely performed classical and modern choral music.  This gift will enable people from every background and circumstance to enjoy our wonderful concerts.

While the gift to sponsor ticket income helps meet the needs of our budget, we have many expenses  as a non-profit organization that require additional funds.  The cost of music alone continues to increase.  Other concert expenses – some musicians, special guests, graphic design work, printing and postage among them – are ongoing each season.  That is why we are very grateful for all contributions to the Friends of the American Chamber Chorale.  Please take a few moments to reflect on our expenses, and if you contribute to non-profit organizations, please consider making a contribution to the Chorale.  All contributions are tax-deductible and Friends are recognized in all concert programs for one year and receive seasonal newsletters.  Contributions can be made online on our web page, www.americanchamberchorale.org, or mailed to PO Box 4375, St. Louis, MO 63123.  Thank you for your consideration.

We look forward to sharing our wonderful inspiring concerts with you, your family and friends – no admission, no ticket required.  Come, listen with your heart.
